About Us

Since 1892, Family Services has been a private, non-profit organization helping area families achieve self-sufficiency. Our services have changed over the years, but our commitment to a stronger, healthier community has never wavered.

Our mission

Family Services builds emotionally healthy, self-sufficient families and a non-violent community in which they can thrive. In 2006 we served more than 10,000 people. By addressing the overlapping issues of mental health, domestic violence, and homelessness we help strengthen our community by providing families with the solutions they need to build healthy relationships and stable lives.

The need is great

You don't have to look far to find someone in need of our services. In King County:

• There are more than 8,300 homeless people
• Six hundred children are homeless
• 23,000 children witness domestic violence in their homes
• One-fourth of our adult population has mental health issues
